Austrian Landscapes
- Genius Loci

Genius Loci – the spirit of the place – represents the special character that lives in the landscapes, materials and stories of a place.

Landscapes are not only physical places, but also places of thought – mirrors of our view of ourselves, of the world and of our existence in it.

In this sense, the theme of Austrian landscapes, through works from diverse artistic disciplines, techniques, and eras (from the 1970s to the present day), aims to reveal a common thread. From this thread emerges what we call the genius loci: not as an immutable entity, but as a series of traces left on a path that – fortunately – continues to be followed.

These are traces inscribed in a clearly defined yet diverse geography, which perhaps for that very reason can tell a story that seems familiar to many.

From June 5th to 30th, the Helmut Hable Gallery will become a place for encounters, exchange and participation for the third time.

Alongside the exhibition Austrian Landscapes – Genius Loci, a varied accompanying programme of workshops, film evenings, and a full-moon walk will take place.

The events are spread across several locations in the region: Galerie Helmut Hable in Straden, Atelier 14 in Deutsch Goritz, FarmLab in Kapfenstein, and formats organized by Verein Lebenskraft Straden.

In this way, the exhibition expands into a shared space for art, craft, and landscape.
